John Robb Is Back On The Air
From Dann:
After a rather frustrating couple of weeks, John Robb is back on the air with his new domain, MindPlex.org. [X-log]
Go forth and link!
Don Park and Sushi
Don and family had sushi last night.
Wham-Bam-Fish-Swam!
You want sushi? We got sushi!
Funny, so did I. Mine was not as adventurous as his, but good none the less.
Wishing for simpler, smaller software
Scoble has a link to a post from Michael Hanscom about a Mac version of Word that is smaller. Here's my comment, posted here since Radio's trackback function isn't working yet/well.
It's not the hard drive space that's killing Mac users. I have a PowerBook G4/550 with 768MB RAM and 10.2.6. I also have Office 98 and Office X installed. Office 98 apps running in Classic mode under Jaguar running faster and have better response time than my Office X apps.
No, it's not a computer issue. I run a standard install of Jaguar, keep the disk in good shape and don't monkey with settings–that's what test machines are for.
The worst offender is Word X. It can't keep up with my typing. That's why I use TextEdit or AppleWorks for typing the document, then copy and paste into an empty Word X doc. Worst case, I run the Word 98 version and go from there.
It sounds worse than it is; I don't write many Word docs on my Mac. My company gives me an IBM ThinkPad for that. With Office 2000 under Windows 2000, I have no issues, fast scrolling speed and plenty of features.
I still believe that we need two apps called Word: Lite and Full. I buy Lite for $49 and it does word processor basics: type, spell/grammer check, type formating and printign. Pro adds all of the style sheets/automation/VB support that Word/Office products are famous for. Sell that for $199, or $99 upgrade.
Treo software upgrade for AT&T wireless users
Bruce Yehl posts some notes about his Treo webpage and the mail service. Bruce helped me work through problems with my first Treo, a 180 purchased from TigerDirect (bad idea). My new one, a 270 purchased through Amazon, is much better and a lot of fun.
Thanks Bruce!
Coffee Geek
If you aren't a coffee geek, don't even bother going here and reading the review of this fine machine. Honestly, I had no idea that vacuum brewing existed…
Site Update
To the three regular readers of house of warwick:
I think we are through the storm with Radio. It's functioning again and posting is working correctly. Archives have been republished, it's responding to NNW and I've got category publishing running.
Thanks for sticking with me through all of this. I'm going to pull some of the posts I did at http://warwick.typepad.com/ and put them here too.

Class Reminder: Week of July 28, 2003
Springfield Pottery is starting their summer classes this week. Don't forget to bring your old towel and some great ideas to class! Wheel throwing classes are a little messy, especially at first.
We've got plenty of friendly students returning to give you a word of encouragement or two.
